NoHo is a triangular-shaped historic district in New York City, roughly bordered by Houston to the south, Broadway to the west, Bowery to the east, and Astor Place to the north. The name NoHo comes from "north of Houston" and is a relatively new name for this area (probably by some enterprising real estate agent), sandwiched right in the middle of the Village in Downtown New York City. In fact, it is roughly equi-distant from the East River and the Hudson river and is surrounded by 5 distinct neighborhoods: East Village to the east, Greenwich Village to the west, Lower East Side to the south-east, Nolita to the south, and SoHo to the south-west.
