New York City Neighborhoods : Yorkville

Yorkville, historically New York City's German-American community, is another small area within the Upper East Side just east of Carnegie Hill. Like Carnegie Hill and other Upper East Side communities, the culture of Yorkville is quiet and residential. This area benefits from a riverfront park, the Mayor's home at Gracie Mansion, some of New York City's finest museums and a bustling retail "strip" on 86th Street. Yorkville's proximity to the Chapin and Brearley Schools make this area very desirable for family living. Easy access to Roosevelt Island and inner Manhattan also makes the moderately high rent prices more palatable. Like anywhere on the Upper East Side, rents get less expensive as you move North towards Harlem.
